The language is street... but that is where the battleground is.. on the street, in the prison cell blocks and yards..... walk in the shoes of public safety officers, walk the streets and prisons where the bad guys prey on everything, the week, the strong, the helpless. Milliseconds in decision making is the difference between life and death. On the street, the bad guy has more weapon power than the officer and usually a tactical advantage with a total disregard for law or those who have been trained to uphold and enforce it, in the jails and prisons, inmates lay in wait with homemade weapon, the officer has pepper spray and cuffs and must deal with the worst of society. There are millions of criminals out there and thousands of officers between them and us.... There are some bad officer, we know that, they will be weeded out! All the thugs and criminals and want-a-bees out number us. If you go for my weapon, you want to kill me.... Size, age, race, gender are not a deciding factors, you are going to try to kill me, if you point a weapon at me you intend to kill me, if you pull a shank or knife on me your going to try and kill me... I am a retired Corrections Lieutenant and have seen and felt death while in uniform, I have personally prevented death to the bad guy, I know my brothers and sisters have done and felt the same. Seconds, or less than, decides if the officer and/or bad guy lives or dies. The public safety and uniformed services of our nation have the most difficult and dangerous profession. Walk in their shoes, then you will and only then, understand the daily horror they live in. All end up with some form and level of PTSD for the rest of their lives. Support is needed for our public safety community now more than ever, not condemnation and trial on the TV.
