The last 48 hours has seen a group that calls themselves The Child Protection League spread fear mongering and hate out into our community. Perpetuating lies and myths about trans people - trans youth and children, no less - they are trying to intimate that somehow young people being themselves does damage to our community. No way. Their brand of bigotry, however, does more damage than they can even conceive to our children and to *all* of us. These are our kids, our friends, our neighbors, our families, our beloveds, our leaders they are talking about. *Trans people and their lives matter.* We will not let this stand. Minneapolis has long been a leader in recognizing the rights of the trans community. I hope everyone will consider contacting the Minnesota State High School League to show support for the proposal which would allow trans students to play high school sports as their affirmed gender.
