The last 48 hours have been a blur. Finding out that a childhood friend, Adam, passed away far too young was a lot to accept. In the midst of that, my ex Kevin returned briefly and hysterically only to take his own life in the middle of the night. Adam lost his battle with cancer, Kevin lost his battle with PTSD. As I process all of this, I’m more convinced that we are still far behind in our understanding and implementation of proper trauma care for our VETs…..and many with trauma experiences. This year, I will embark upon a training process to teach Trauma Informed Care through the Crisis Prevention Institute. Before it was a passion. Now it will have a new purpose. Love unconditionally and fully. Life is short
