The last item on my Guilty Pleasure list. Ive not seen it in a long, long time but the last time I viewed it, it had quite an effect on me. Dog Island is the setting, on a foggy, chilly night out on the boat, five teenagers on a cruise crash onto the rocks and are shipwrecked due to one abrasive dudes actions. In the night-painted distance can be heard the howling of dogs and, suddenly, the roar of an unimaginable beast. The teens leave two behind on the beach to watch for another boat while the remaining three explore, stumbling upon a creepy old house with strange photos of a lonely spinster with a baby in her arms. Further exploration reveals a basement in which some...thing has been living. I call this one a guilty pleasure because at the time it really did give me a good scare, but people razz me about it all the time, how awful it was. To me this is the trademark of eighties horror...so awful its good, that kind of thing. Page Fletcher, the Hitchhiker from HBOs long running series, makes an appearance as the rapist who ends up fathering this monstrous creature. The rest of the cast is unknown and stayed that way. However, with news of an impending blu-ray release, I figured Id dust it off and wax memorial.
