The last six months have been surreal to say the least. The journey was not mine but I have watched from close by. Collin. Just saying his name brings tears to my eyes. The faith, strength, and resilience he has shown every single day far surpasses anything I could have ever hoped to see from any human being. Ever. My brother and I have one of those relationships that requires few words. A look and a nod are enough for both of us to understand... sometimes words just arent necessary ~ Weve just had a full conversation! For those of you who have ever seen me interact with my brother will completely understand. Standing by watching him pray to God to give his son another chance ... one more day ... was almost unbearable. Hes my little brother - he should not have to go through this. But hes not little anymore. Hes a grown man with a family. An amazing family. He married a wonderful woman and they have beautiful children. She should not have to go through this. She should not have to pray to God to give her son another chance. There are so many stories out there about Collins amazing strength. I had a real conversation with Matt the other day and I said If this were to happen to anyone else, I dont think they would have made it. Collin is so strong. He never gave up but most importantly he never felt sorry for himself. Three days ago I stood outside Collins hospital room while my brother and sister in law had a family moment with the three boys before Collin went in to surgery. Standing out there knowing it may very well be the last time they saw their son alive was unbearable. Watching them pace the waiting room for ten long hours just waiting for the next update... They took it all in stride. For me it is so easy to see where Collin gets his strength.. after all, he is my brothers son. Both are men of few words. Stronger than either one realizes. He is his mothers son. They both share the same fighting spirit. Both unwilling to back down in the face of adversity. Tammy - you amaze me. Collin - you humble me. Matt - you inspire me and I love you more than you will ever know.
