The last time the sugar industry suffered a serious blow was in the early 1990s when the then PM Manuel Esquivel closed down Libertad factory or Petrojam forever. That turned Corozal from a vibrant and productive district to the gost district it is today - the second poorest in this nation. Today we see and cant believe - something never expected in the sugar industry - the division of the cane farmers association. Like the first blow, PM Dean Barrow sided with a foreign entity to divide the canefarmers who have lead the very industry that has been our countrys main agriculture export product. I grew up where we had to get up very early, cut and load cane for a miserable drop in the bucket... Never before had the canefarmers divided themselves. The nortenos believed and stud stong to one thing - united we stand and divided we fall. My brothers in the north entrusted their hard worked investment in our leaders. As they were asked by the PM to be patient and they did. Our leader betrayed our canefarmers. My brothers its time to take it to the streets... its time to takeback what is rightly yours... its time to show our leaders that while exercising patience is good, dont confused it for being fools. RISE UP MY BROTHERS BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE. After all it is by rising up that we can call Belize home... we cannot allow to be defeated by a foreign entity in our own land. Even when our leaders are against you... los pobres somos mas. Where are the rest of our Belizeans... how can we feel good knowing that our fellow Belizeans are being chance out of their life. We should join them and shake up Belmopan.
