The last two weeks have been...INTERESTING! Ive had some helpful, as well as crazy ass people reach out to me. You can always tell when youre doing something BIG when you get emails like this: FROM Mr. MJ: Your first mistake was stating this was for black owned businesses. If you want to raise funds for black business owners you should run a campaign for minority and female business owners. There are very few successful, black owned businesses, and this is a well known fact. Simply stating, black businesses only, will turn white people off. Lets face it, black people are cheap and every succesful black owned business has had a white man behind the scenes. As blacks, we cant truly do anything without the white man. No matter how you look at it or how angry it makes you its the truth. Once you realize that and just accept it as I have, you will get more things done. Trust me! Change your attitude and you will be more successful. Its people like you that make it harder for people like me to get help from the white man. The dumbest thing we have done is push the white man away. They fought to free us not only here in America, but across the globe! The only place that has slaves now is our own homeland. Like MLK said, its because of the white man we are free. We cant be mad at them they walked the streets with us, voted for us, and fought for us. If we could only learn our place we would all be better off. MY RESPONSE:Hello, MJ. I’ve received numerous emails regarding my gofundme campaign for Black Owned Businesses, but none quite like yours. First let me say that if there are very few successful black owned businesses, then people like you and I should be willing to do what we can to change that. We should not always depend on white people to do everything for us nor should we continuously seek their approval for everything that we do. If you believe that we can’t do anything without white people assisting us, I feel deeply sorry for you. The mentality that you have is a slave mentality that lets me know, that even in 2014, people like you are still NOT free. That saddens me…breaks my heart, and I truly hope that you wise up. After all, “Nobody can give you freedom. Nobody can give you equality or justice or anything. If you’re a man, you take it.” Brother Malcolm X. That’s what I intend to do. Take the knowledge that I have as a fully free black woman and continue to move this grassroots campaign forward as is. In no way am I angry about that, and as a matter of fact, I’m grateful to you for reaching out to me. Seems like I got your attention, so please contribute. Thanks. I certainly wish you the best.
