The last type of wax doll, I am going to discuss, is the reinforced wax doll. Reinforced wax dolls are generally accepted as being made in Germany from 1860 until 1890. They share many characteristics with poured wax doll and are created in the same manner, however the inside of the head is reinforced by a thin layer of plaster of paris or with strips of cloth soaked in composition. The intention was to give the head added strength. They are not to be confused with the wax over dolls, and an inspection of the inside of the head will show the difference.
