The last week has taught me some valuable lessons in dealing with expectations and disappointment, remaining positive in the face of adversity. I have always maintained that a lot of the stuff I do daily, exercise, music, prayer, meditation and so on is preparation in dealing with the big things that happen. By having healthy coping mechanisms, being able to keep perspective and be grateful for the things I do have, for the ability to live in the now, to do what I can today and leave the disappointments and misadventures of the past behind me, I can remain focused and happy in the present moment. Its a skill I am damn glad I have acquired. Shit will happen all the time in life, people, places and things we are completely powerless over. You cant change these things, but you can choose how you react to them and how they affect you. Thats the only power we have. The support from my friends and colleagues has truly been overwhelming, everyone who has messaged, called and texted me with kind words, I appreciate it so much, it has really meant a lot to me. Today is a a new day, a new week and I have so much to look forward to and live for. In the words of the great philosopher Rocky Balboa The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get it and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that! Essentially I am so spiritually enlightened I am like a jacked version of the Dalai Lama, in case you havent realised this already... So its time to listen to some metal and go train outside before it gets too damn hot. Have a great week and thank you :)
