The last week in South East Asia was amazing. 13 gigs in 3 countries over 7 days. Worked alongside some fine talents including Jimeoin, Mary Bourke, Simon Clayton, Umar Rana and of course Jonathan Atherton. Met over 40 comedians from all over Asia at the Comedy Bootcamp in Malaysia. Ran a writing workshop for them and did a ‘heckler handling’ demo! Performed at four hospitals in Singapore. Ran Laughter Yoga workshops as well. Caught up with some old friends and made some new ones. Many thanks are due: Jonathan Atherton for just being the Godfather of comedy in Asia. Great initiative with Bootcamp and thank you for always putting me on at your lovely gigs. Heazry Salim for being solid as a rock and sorting out absolutely everything. His marketing skills are so legendary that he can convince an MBA in marketing that a five and a half hour bus journey is only two hours. Umar Rana for hosting me at Comedy Masala. Always love playing your room. Ritika, Rakesh, Kavya and Sam Khanna for their kind hospitality as always. Anuraag, Sandhya, Czaana and Kaiser Saxena for their hospitality and for continuing to help me discover new things…like the fact that eating biriyani at Islamic will knock your stomach out for 3 days! Gill, Dr Leng and the entire Parkway Hospitals team including Shraddha, Yvonne Fong, Alvin Neo, Steven Mok, Lim Pei Ling and William for looking after me and allowing me to entertain audiences at their hospitals. Mr Rajiv K. Luthra for helping set this all up. Ateet Gaur, Yingsze Tan and Jef Goh for helping me with the fitting session that shall soon remove all excuses I have been making so far for my bad golf game! Sharul, B.Mark Seabrooks, Fakkah Fuzz, Joanna Sio, and Jinx Yeo for getting on board to perform for free at the hospitals. Kumar Drag Comedian for offering to have me on his gig even though I didn’t make it…and Matt Griffin for actually putting me on at his. Evan Murphy for taking some photos as always. It was great to catch up with old friends Pooja, Quill, Rashmi and Rishi…and nice to make some new ones. Missed seeing Divya and Neeraj. As always it was great to meet and watch so many comics in the region and to see how great they are doing. And finally Singapore audiences for just being so fantastic! I’m gonna keep coming back :)
