The late former President Cory Aquino’s elder brother, Jose - TopicsExpress

The late former President Cory Aquino’s elder brother, Jose Peping Cojuangco, suffers from a serious credibility crisis, as far as I’m concerned, if he is really calling for the resignation of his own nephew. From Day One of the current Aquino administration, after all, Peping’s nephew has made it clear to all that he will have nothing to do with his uncle, who has been linked to various anomalies during the term of his sister. Then there’s the widespread belief that Cojuangco is only seeking to play the role of anti-Aquino crusader in case a new administration that is not friendly with the practitioners of Yellow politics gets into office after 2016, thereby ensuring that his family remains important after Noynoy steps down. This is the scarier conclusion that can be derived from the anti-government posturings of Cory’s brother. I can understand if the people who have made it their mission to bring down the current President want someone from the inside to defect to their cause. Unfortunately, I don’t believe that Cojuangco, with his exclusion from the administration and unsavory political reputation, is the ideal defector who will further their objective. Cojuangco only comes across as a political opportunist who wants to ensure that his family remains relevant in the national political conversation, whoever wins in 2016. That, sadly, is not someone whom the anti-Aquino forces want on their side.
