The latest from our niece. As she says, praise God, and keep on praying. Praise God! Kellyn made it through 8-9 hour surgery alive. Surgeon said she made it through the gastric pull-up as well as she could have been. So she ended up with less healthy esophagus than originally anticipated and basically they had to pull her entire stomach into her chest cavity to act as her esophagus. Theres only a little bit of esophagus left and its mostly stomach that forms the long tube. We are so grateful to God that there is a possible solution to her problem. However, we are likely far from over this crazy journey. She is currently intubated (using a breathing tube) to keep her breathing. She is likely going to have a long and painful recovery, especially since shes been sick, had 3 surgery in 6 days, and the surgery was so extensive. It will be an interesting and long road ahead with my Kellyn using her stomach as her jerry rigged esophagus. There may be eating, breathing, reflux, future surgeries, and other issues associated. However, all those obstacles are obviously worth having our precious baby girl here with us today. We are so relieved, but we are not out of the woods yet. Please pray for our daughter to recover completely and speedily, to wake up well from sedation and anesthesia (shell likely be sedated for several days), minimal pain, to breathe properly and independently when removed from intubation, and to be ack to her normal, happy self asap. Please pray for us handling the emotional roller coaster we will be dealing with during recovery. Thank you God for taking us this far and helping us get through today. Thank you friends for everything. And please keeping praying daily for our little lady:)
