The latest threat to home education as we know it is underway and we need to fight it now before it becomes law. wales.gov.uk/docs/dcells/consultation/270813-draft-guidance-en.pdf The problem as I understand it is section 3.124 which reads Section 436A of the Education Act 1996 (inserted by section 4 of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 ) requires all local authorities to make arrangements to enable them to establish (so far as it is possible to do so) the ‘identities of children in their area who are not registered at school and are not receiving a suitable education’. The purpose of the duty is to make sure that children and young people who are not registered pupils are identified and that effective monitoring systems are put in place to ensure that those children or young people are provided with ‘suitable education’ The first paragraph is fine as I understand it and doesn’t change anything, the second paragraph is the bit that concerns me as it adds clarification that I believe will be used detrimentally against us to introduce monitoring. Please go and fill in the consultation and object to this intrusion into our lives which may give the lea the right to monitor where they have never been able to before. please share
