The latest update on Martin: Today was another great day for our friend and brother, Martin. After his doctor appointment he was taken to by Michelle McKinley Ansdell, he decided it would be a good idea to tame his beard and get a haircut. Kyle from Johnnys Saloon heard about this through a group text and made a call to his friend Jared at Razorbacks in Long Beach. Within a couple of hours, and a trip to Long Beach from Huntington Beach courtesy of Michelle, Martin was sitting in a 1930s era barber chair getting his hair and beard trimmed and styled by Jared. This is a big step in the progress that Martin is making from the TLC he is getting from friends and strangers alike. The new clothes, the ability to shower daily, the effort to take care of his health, which was absolutely the top priority, he is transitioning at a very good rate. His pace is picking up. His sense of value within himself is growing. This all takes time, patience, care and effort. But most importantly, it takes love. Tomorrow morning Martin has a very important interview process that will determine if he will be placed in a program that allows him to have a place to live. This is what the last two weeks have been leading up to and he knows this. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Each day there is a lot being done for him and with him. The behind the scenes efforts by those closest to him are nothing short of full commitment to helping him get off the streets for good. This will happen! Its not a matter of if. Its a matter of when. Tomorrow could be the day we find out when. The photos attached is a before to after series of Martin being made over. He loves his beard but wasnt feeling he was looking his best with it not being groomed well. The fact that he is making an effort to care about his appearance and doing all he has to in order to build his confidence is such a positive sign. I know the humble involved will say it was nothing to play a role in his day today. But Martin sees it differently. To him, being made such a fuss over, its humbling. He is grateful and thankful. To the staff at Johnnys Saloon, Razorbacks in Long Beach, Building Blocks for Hope, Inc. and Thee Urban Trekker Project, Martin says thank you for your care and love.
