The latest wave of proclamations that rock is dead or dying made - TopicsExpress

The latest wave of proclamations that rock is dead or dying made me think about all the other times its come up. Below might be one of the first, in 1957. In a way they were partly right, due to some efforts within the mainstream industry, racism and conflicts with culture and religion of the era. Little Richard had already bowed out. But were sales already flagging for Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley? Ive read many books about corruption, payola and racism in the music industry, but nothing that looks at the whole picture of what happened when rock n roll was temporarily set back and neutered between 1959-1963. Any recommendations? James Porter Aaron Cohen
