The legacy of our son and the goal of creating Kyans Kause is spreading and creating awareness about water safety dangers and the issues that pertain to all of us including children in our community. Several of you have reached out to us about secondary drownings lately and we feel an urge to shed light on this extremely common danger. There have been several articles and accounts lately of these drownings and I think you and your family needs to be very aware of this and be able to identify the signs of it in any case. I initially heard about this a few years back from a lifeguard on one of our vacations. He referred to it as a dry drowning because it happens way after you are out of the water. He had told us a couple stories he personally knew about and wanted to share his experience with us. I always kept that in the back of my mind and wondered of his need to share that when we were enjoying the beach but nevertheless thanked him. It was not until I ran across some of these articles that many of you shared with me did I recall of this lifeguard and his need to ,ironically, spread awareness at that time with our family.
