The legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen is far more reaching than just a tale of Black History. We have to remember that Black History is also American History. You cannot seperate one from the other. As these modern day combat pilots remind us. This isnt about race. Its about nationality. When one black American fails, America fails. When one black American succeeds, America succeeds. That is true of ANY American, of ANY color, religion, gender or class. They were expected to fail, because they were black. They succeeded because they were damn good American soldiers. When more of us Americans, regardless of color, start acting like damn good citizens, we will see our nation rise. Not because of our individual differences, but because of our collective diversity and unity.
