The letter that Annise Parker will be receiving with my sermon - TopicsExpress

The letter that Annise Parker will be receiving with my sermon notes from this week: Dear Mayor Annise Parker, You seem to have quite an interest in what pastors are saying in their “speeches.” I have nothing to hide. Here are my sermon notes. While I know that you didn’t request mine and probably care less what some dude in Yorktown, VA is saying, I cannot remain silent on the issue of pulpit freedom. If you were to call individuals in my congregation they would tell you that I don’t play the game of political preaching. I am only concerned with the Gospel and the Gospel has no political party outside of the Kingdom of Jesus. The freedom to preach this Kingdom is my concern. I live in a town where the British surrendered to the colonial rebels and the independence that allows me to freely preach Gospel principles was won. That still means something to me. My brother-in-law is a United States Marine who has sacrificed much to defend this independence. That still means something to me. His best friend was killed in the line of duty standing guard for my independence. That still means something to me. And the Gospel means everything to me. So, yes, I am deeply moved over this issue because the advance of the Gospel, the only hope for this world, is at stake. Thank you for your time. You are in my prayers and I wish nothing but God’s best for you and your family. Pastor Michael Howard
