The level of tension between the US Congress and the Central Intelligence Agency over the agency’s spying and interrogation practices is “unprecedented,” an international lawyer in Indonesia says. In an interview with Press TV on Tuesday, Barry Grossman, spoke about a classified report by the US Senate that shows that the CIA has misled both the government and the American people over its brutal interrogation program. Last month, in an indication of the level of tension between the CIA and a Senate committee, each side accused the other of possible criminal violations in accessing each other’s computer systems during the course of the probe. “This ongoing dispute between the Senate Intelligence Oversight Committee and the House Committee on Intelligence and CIA is absolutely mind boggling,” Grossman said on Tuesday. “What’s unfolding here is a struggle between two powerful vested interests in the United States government, each going at each other in an attempt to score points and establish credibility and they’re both trying to control the narrative that will emerge while not caring much about the issues,” he added.
