The lie that Edward Snowden is a spy and traitor who has jeopardised the security of the West is rebutted here. He took no classified documents to Russia, and gave nothing to the Chinese. His materials were given to the Guardian and to a responsible private film maker. The massive and illegal invasion of privacy by the US with British connivance was exposed by a courageous whistle blower. Like similar whistle blowers before him in the States, he had to flee the revenge of what is effectively a vindictive secret police state. Any innocent civilian who values their civil rights and human right to privacy ought applaud Snowdens courage in taking on the most frightening abuses of power in aid of the so called war against terror. There is nothing secure about systematically undermining our Human Rights.
