The life of His Excellency Michael Chilufya Sata is a book that every young person aspiring to become a leader at all levels should study and read carefully to get a certain flavor to add to there lives. His journey of life from Chitulika to State house is a breath of fresh air to someone in the rural parts of Zambia with a dream to become a leader. When you scan through his life from Chitulika you begin understanding that having a dream is important in life. Michael Chilufya Sata was born in 1937 and brought up in Mpika, Northern Province. He worked as a police officer, railway man and trade unionist during colonial rule. He spent time in London working on the railway sweeping the platforms. Among other things, he was a porter at Victoria railway station Sata began actively participating in the politics of Northern Rhodesia in 1963. Following independence, he worked his way up through the rough-and-tumble rank-and-file of the ruling United National Independence Party (UNIP) to the governorship of Lusaka in 1985. As Governor, he made his mark as a man of action with a hands on approach. He cleaned up the streets, patched roadways and built bridges in the city. Afterward he became a member of parliament for Kabwata constituency in Lusaka. Though once close with President Kenneth Kaunda, he became disillusioned by Kaundas dictatorial style and he left the UNIP to join the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) during the campaign for multi-party politics in 1991. He graduated as a Bachelor in Political Science at Atlantic International University on 2011. His life could be likened to the story of David who rose from a shepherd boy to a king. he might have had his shortfalls, but his rise to firm is a story worth noting in every youth with well functioning cognitive abilities. His political analysis skills were a marvel to stick your ears to. He might have arrived late at his realization point of his dream but one sure fact is that he arrived. His life behind the doors was a life fool of battles like David. The reason why it took him time to come to a point of dream realization was because he needed to fight his Goliath. Satas major political Goliath was breaking the notion in Zambian people that talkative people like him where dangerous for the Position of President. You and i understand that the vocal aspect was a tactic. Upon assuming office he spoke when it mattered. his major sling he used that i will ever use is having a heart for people as evidenced in the allowing of the many street vendors that before where running battles with Police to trade freely and instilling the sense of ownership in them that culminated in them supplementing the cleaning efforts of the councils and the introduction of the minimum wage that left a lot of Zambians with disposable income. I conclude by saying as a youth i will fight my Goliath with a focus on what God says about me and not man.
