The life story of Buhari as 7th head of state of Nigeria was well known and has elavated him to the level of such widely recognized and idolized person in Nigerias politics.His life is indeed full of wisdom,courage,and nobility that demand our respect and have much to teach us.Let us face reality. During his tenure as the 7th head of state that preceded Babangida he was elected to lead the country by the then military elites both the middle and high ranking military officers after a successfull military coup that overthrew the civilian government of Shagari in 1983 which was considered by the coup conspirators as hopelessly corrupt. Buhari was the head of the third armoured division when he was selected as head of state with Idiagbon as chief of general staff. His administration launch a WAI crusade which was a public compaign against indiscipline-the crusade tackled the problem of idleness in work through humiliation of the civil servants that arrived late in offices especially by whiping them in public by the guards. He banned all the strikes and lockouts by workers to ensure social order in command.I and indeed many more optimist Nigerians have stand and admired Buhari for his uprightness and stand against corruption during his military tenure. His government must also be revered and idolized by a good fellow Nigerians for his ability to keep this country afloat/survived in the time under consideration by making progress through utter or sheer economic inventiveness nd ingenuity even when he rejected the IMF loan and conditionalities to devalue Nigerian currency. A good Nigeria who absolutely mean what he said in singing National anthem must also praised and compliment Buhari for his effort an ofcouse gain in reducing inflation,checking imports of unneeded goods,limiting oil stealing or theft,and his ability to enable Nigeria to export its crude oil to OPEC above its normal quota.Infact he was clearly known for the unprecedented achievements he brought to oil industry. Felow Nigerians try and equate between Buharis unprecedented achievements both as a governor of North Eastern state,as minister or federal commissioner of petroleum(1976 to 77),head of Nigerian petroleum corporation (1977),head of state 1983 to 1985,chairman of PTF,with any other military leaders we had including the present civilian government. I am not compaigning for Buhari nor am i trying to be bias,it is best on facts. Buhari is a conventional wisdom to us lets keep aside sentiments,regi onalism,ethnicity and religiosity aside and give this selfless man some credit or merit. Let us use past (history) to reconstruct our future.I guess he is competent enough than all the candidatures we are especting in 2015.The problem of nigeria has to do with the fact that social order is not in command because their is no discipline. What causes corruption and its other vices is indiscpline,what causes mismanagement of public funds is also indiscipline.If there is social order then we will automatically be discipline.....
