The line graph shows some striking similar trend between the USA and china birth rate over a period of 80 years from 1920. It is clear that both nations showed significant fluctuations between 1920 and 2000 and varied dramatically in the 1940s and 1950s. Beginning at 10 percent in 1920, China’s birth rate rose by 5 percent in 1935 before dropping sharply to 5 percent in the 1940s. The following 10 years saw a dramatic rise in this rate to peak of 20 percent in 1950. The half of the century left experienced a sustained fall to around 2 percent. Fluctuating at somewhere between 11 and 13 percent by 1940, the USA birth rate dropped markedly to just under 5 percent in 1945. There was a significant improvement in the next 5 years and followed by a steady decline. Overall, it is evident that US birth rate is generally higher than that of the Chinese, the gap between two countries widened clearly after 1955.
