The long day ends in exhaustion I sit, holding you Your head on my breast Full and content, you sleep The light dimly glimmers on your face, your wild hair I should put you down Next to me Its time for bed But Im lost in the contours of your face Your little nose Your long eyelashes gently resting together I softly touch your ear Taking in its perfect shape Fix the stray hairs tickling your cheeks I stare Falling more in love as each minute ticks by I briefly think of sleep, of the dishes in the sink, the dust on the coffee table the toilet needs a scrub But I sit Enrapture with each breath I watch as your chest slowly rises and falls Caress your tiny relaxed body Overcome with love with peace Elation You sigh, I smile And hold on to the moment For time goes by too fast The weeks turn to months For now you fit so perfectly Here in my arms. Crystal Amy So many beautiful gems come to me from parents that touch me and enrich me so much. This is one that really touched me yesterday. Crystal Amy, whose youngest is 12 weeks old, shared this on the Q&A group yesterday and is happy for me to share it with you all. ~ Genevieve
