The long road home. You may know me as Teddy. Fifteen months - TopicsExpress

The long road home. You may know me as Teddy. Fifteen months ago I was on death row. The shelter said I was 18 years old. I was skin and bones weighing only 47 pounds. I was worm, flea and tick infested. I was severely matted. There were colonies of fleas living under my mats that had bedded down into my skin causing awful sores. I was high heartworm positive, un-neutered and had a limp. My owner never came for me. I was placed on the kill list as soon as my hold period was up. I had no chance of adoption and the rescues had passed me up but then my angel reached out and touched the heart of those who take dogs like me - the sick, the injured, the old and the terminally ill. I was placed in a foster home where I flourished. My vet re-aged me at 8 years old and my rescue began addressing my medical issues one by one, As my body healed my spirit lifted and I became part of a real family. I visited the dog park and the water park. I celebrated birthdays and holidays and got stronger and healthier with each passing day. On September 13, 2014 my rescue received an adoption application and I went for my final vet check. I now weigh 62 pounds and am heartworm negative. I now have a family of my own. I am happy and healthy. I want to thank everyone who helped me along my long road home. Please continue to help my rescue help dogs like me. I have a wonderful future now that I would not have had if I hadnt been blessed with this rescue, a foster and sponsors. Think of me often. Love, Gary Ruppe (aka Teddy - a death row survivor and Pound Pals Rescue Dog)
