The long term trend report on NAEP has been released. The reported showed differences in 9 and 13 years and no change among 17 year-olds over the last 40 years. Gender differences and racial/ethnic differences have narrowed. The report reveals growth according to the tests in some areas over this period of time. This is a much more valid measure of some aspects of how schools are doing than many of the overly competitive approaches to testing.
