The loss of Cheryl Hanna will reverberate through this community for years to come. She was a brilliant shining star who brought so much good to so many. As someone who has struggled with depression on and off for most of my life, I know the dark places all too well. And like most people with a public face, I keep this to myself. Lets take this time to be more open and honest about the dark places many of us visit, and do what we can to break down the stigma against sharing our vulnerabilities with others. We can be cheerful, strong and together while also being insecure, weak and tortured. Its what makes us human. Were complex creatures. So Im taking off my social media mask for a moment to be as human as I know how to be. Lets be kind to each other as we all try to figure this beautiful and sometimes terrifying life out. Rest in peace Cheryl. You fought so hard and accomplished so much. You make us brave.
