The loss of Robin Williams is honesty shocking and painful, and its the first celebrity death that has affected me. I grew up watching and loving his movies, but Ill always remember watching The Bird Cage in junior high. At a time when I felt scared, embarrassed, and confused, he portrayed a confident, hilarious, openly gay man, and showed me that there was hope beyond Ellettsville, IN. That movie acted as a true beacon of light for me, and his character was - and still is - a real, tangible model for me to live up to. RIP, Robin.
