The loss of civilian life is one of the terrible tragedies of war. - TopicsExpress

The loss of civilian life is one of the terrible tragedies of war. Certainly the loss of life in a school which had been considered a safe place is tragic. However, it is only a week ago that the UNWRA announced the discovery of twenty rockets hidden within a school, which it then returned to the local authorities or Hamas. Unfortunately this practice of storing munitions in such places is just one more way in which Hamas endangers the civilians of Gaza which cannot be ignored, including the decision to build attack tunnels instead of civilian shelters. While Gazans are more likely to lose their lives, over a million Israelis live with the same fear every day, and have been living with that fear since Hamas first came to prominence over 8 years ago. That is unacceptable. The people of Gaza want to have freedom from the embargo, but also want to continue attacking Israel. They cannot have it both ways, it is one or the other. Perhaps, as Golda Meir put it in 1957, when the Arabs start to love their children more than they hate Israel, there will be peace. For now, clearly hatred of Israel is the dominant force.
