The lovely Charlie! How can we forget Charlie in our catch up of ex- poundies!! Charlie will forever be the dog that no one wanted but everyone came together to save. Charlie spent weeks in the pound with no interest. He broke my heart and Im not ashamed to say I shed more than a few tears over this boy. Until finally he went into foster with the lovely Aileen under the watchful eye of Roscrea SPCA. Donations flooded in from across the world to secure Charlies release and have all the necessary bits done to him. Charlie is one I will never forget. Below is Aileens and Charlies story..... My name is Aileen Hogan . I live in the nenagh area . Earlier this year I liked a page on Facebook called Rehoming North Tipp Pound Dogs. Soon I realised that the woman running the page went to the trouble of getting the photos of the dogs from the council website to share on this page in an effort to help rehome the dogs . What a wonderful idea . Thanks to the dog warden who personally takes the photos and delivers them himself to the council , we now had two teams working together to gives these lost souls a new life . I was so touch by both these peoples dedication that I offered to help anytime they needed . I already have to very large dogs as part of my family , so I have known the unconditional love and companionship of a dog for many years . I watched the dogs come and go and how the rehoming page begged and pleaded with people to share the photos to help let people know how many dogs where being found or surrendered . In a matter of months the following of the page increased dramatically . Of course it did ! We had no idea the pound was under such pressure and who in gods name thinks of looking at a council website ?? Not me or anyone else I know . So I watched as the rehoming page helped one dog after another get rehomed . It was fantastic . Until one day this black mutt appeared and no one seemed to want . He was on there for weeks . People dont like black dogs I believe ?!? Anyway unsure of his fate and unsure of the policy of the pound , people started wondering what was going to happen to this dog . Then I get a call ... Cud I pls go and get this dog from the pound . Roscrea rescue will take him but cant for a few days . Could I get him and hold on to him for about 5 days ? A fosterer so to speak. Of course I could . He was brought straight to the vet , checked over , neutered vaccinated and micro chipped and home he came for a few days . That was 6 months ago . A failed fosterer !! Charlie boy has become the latest member of the Hogan family by default . We consider ourselves very lucky to have been blessed with saving this lost soul. He has gone from insecure 7 month old lunatic , to a loyal , loving settled boy . A dog who would have to be lifted into the car where he shivered and cried now jumps into the car for his walkies. And as you will see from the photos he has found his forever home . Everyone , humans and animals respond to love . So a big Thank you from us to the dog warden of North Tipperary Pound for ensuring charlie was given a chance by getting the photos on the website and Thank you to rehoming page for transferring them to show us all. Charlie had 2 pound pictures, and the touching pictures of the dog nobody wanted in his forever home x
