Rapping is the most prominent vocal style in Hip-Hop, a style of music that originates primarily from Funk. This is one of the very earliest Hip-Hop tracks, and as such sounds rather similar to Funk. I still think a lot of so called “early hip hop” has been retroactively labelled as such, long after the fact…..at the time it was simply “FUNK”….who even heard of the label hip-hop back in 1982 when Spyder-D created “Smerphies Dance”? I sure didn’t….that song is on an Old School Funk Compilation as well, the first “Old SChool CD” in the long running series with a lot of funk!
