The main problem, I believe, that fans had with Batista winning the Royal Rumble match, besides it not being Daniel Bryan, is the fact that Batista has spent so long away from the company only to come back and immediately get thrust into the main event of Wrestlemania. I think winning the Royal Rumble and headlining Wrestlemania should be the culmination of a year of hard work paying off. Fans were willing to live with Punk, Ziggler, and even Reigns winning the Rumble. It didnt have to be Daniel Bryan. However, having someone whos been gone a few years win the Royal Rumble on his first night back and have a guaranteed spot in the main event of Wrestlemania like he never left leaves fans feeling empty. The fans really wanted Daniel Bryan, and used that to shit on the rest of the show to voice their displeasure with how things went. The reaction wouldnt have been like that if someone whos busted their ass throughout the year would have won it, and the list of guys fans would have been satisfied with winning is a whole lot longer than the list of guys they would have shit on like they did Batista. However, Im once again willing to sit back and see what they have planned.
