The man-camps taking shape all over the Native world where thousands of mostly white men and the voracious hunger of miners is invading Native homelands, making many places desperately unsafe for Native women. This development is terrifying and predictable in a society where everything is considered for the taking. Indigenous Peoples, particularly women and girls, remain the final “frontier” for colonization — where discrimination and the rapacious social construct that misrepresents us as available commodities for while male consumption permeates the american consciousness and perpetuates prejudice, genocidal violence, and fosters an atmosphere of physical, cultural and spiritual harm with impunity. We are targets because we are Native and we are female. That’s the United States - yesterday and today. Let this not be the world our children and grandchildren inherit.
