The manufacturing cycle in Britain. It took 230 years for - TopicsExpress

The manufacturing cycle in Britain. It took 230 years for Britains working and middle class to emerge from the industrial revolution and the age of manufacturing only to descend into high unemployment and welfare dependency. It has only taken China 20 years to begin outsourcing basic manufacturing to poorer nations, choosing instead to focus on infrastructure development. Given the rapidly shrinking middle class in America, UK and Australia how do we not get left behind in the mad scramble for jobs and high living standards? Where will the jobs be, what will they look like, and will it be viable to stay in this country? Instead of moving cities, will we be moving continents to find work, as many have been forced to do in the developing world? Will we see MORE of a return to Australian made, hand made, unique products? What will happen to those who fall through the massive Chasms in education and are looking to simple paid work? Economics is a social justice issue but we cant go back so we have to be creative and flexible in how we move forward...
