The many permutations of hindu epics add to their never ending allure. In this beautifully water coloured version of the Ramayana, Sita returns to her kingdom with Ram after defeating the 10 headed demon king, Ravana. The streets are illuminated with thousands of lamps to welcome the couple & commemorate the dominance of light over darkness. However her happiness is short lived, as doubt of her purity is unjustly lit amongst her people. Sita herself volunteers to leave her husband & be exiled to the forest. She reasons that a king cannot have his people question his queens chastity..... Should a woman readily accept the judgment of an unfair society For country or not, was Rams choice to desert her the right one ?
