The martial arts is more than teaching how to defend ones self, but the code of ethics and morals that comes with it. I know that some of you here in this group have heard about the death of Eric Garner who was chocked to death by the NYPD. I know that cops are being stressed and the job is difficult, but there is no excuse for putting extreme force on somebody. Police academies across the country teach recruits how to apply self-defense applications on a suspect the same way martial arts schools teach their students how to use control. This is just an example of how martial arts in western society is being portrayed as a tool to boost someones insecurities, and a method to bully and abuse people of a different ethnic group.
