The martyrdom of Father Mario Vergara and the catechist Isidore - TopicsExpress

The martyrdom of Father Mario Vergara and the catechist Isidore Ngei Ko Lat, at dawn on May 25, 1950, had a prodigious missionary effect. So Cardinal Angelo Amato, prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, described the fruits of the testimony of faith of the priest of Campania and of the Burmese layman. Cardinal Amato represented Pope Francis at the beatification Saturday afternoon, May 24th, at the Cathedral of Aversa. In his Apostolic Letter for the beatification, the Pontiff called them heroic messengers of the Gospel in the lands of the East, which did not hesitate to prefer the love of Christ and their brethren to their lives. In fact, the sacrifice of the two generated the flowering of Catholicism in Myanmar. Their crosses will grow the tree of the Church, instilling in the baptized the pride of their Christian identity and giving them renewed energy.
