The mayor claims that despite closing schools in neighborhoods - TopicsExpress

The mayor claims that despite closing schools in neighborhoods where enrollment is down, some other neighborhoods are actually overcrowded and therefore new schools are needed there. Thats a valid argument, so go ahead and build more schools in those neighborhoods - PUBLIC SCHOOLS, not Charters! As Zerlina Smith of Action Now, an LSC member at Maria Saucedo Scholastic Academy, has said: “We are demanding that all city-elected aldermen come on board and co-sponsor this resolution. Stop the charter school vote on Jan. 22 and give the parents and the community a voice. Aldermen, we are the first voters. We got you in and we will get you out. We need our voices to be heard.”
