The meaner part of me would happily see Scotland f*ck off to live in rainy, midge-ridden, sectarian, sponging, racist misery, descending into ever more grinding poverty as the oil runs out and the population declines while we get on with creating a more prosperous, independent England. But the better part of my nature thinks its insane to break up a Union that has created a stronger, better, richer (and I mean culturally and spiritually, not just financially) Britain than its four component parts could ever have managed alone. Im an Anglo-Welsh-Norwegian Brit, with a dash of American. Other Brits are Scottish, Indian, Pakistani, Jamaican, Polish, Irish, French, Nigerian, Chinese, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu ... all the corners and cultures of the world coalescing to create something special. So if the Scots decide to leave, this will nation will not only be smaller, but smaller-minded. I suspect they will come to regret their decision even more than the rest of us will ... but that we will regret, I have not the slightest doubt.
