The meaning of Thanksgiving...To gather in unity – It is refreshing and invigorating when people come together, in celebration of a common purpose. It is a reconciliation of differences as well as a time of healing. In sharing our victories as well as our struggles, we find strength and hope. Todays rescue ironically fell on a day of thanks. Todays rescue was a group of people coming together who share an endless love for our 4-legged friends. We struggle on a daily basis with the true realities of the animals in the world, but with each rescue we feel we are making a difference. I have not seen it all & nor do I want to, but what I have experienced in the rescue world, has broken me down & there are times I began to loose faith in the human race. Today I was proven wrong... today an abundance of people came through with inspiring words, endless support & numerous donations to support Samoset. They saw his strength to fight this fight & had hope in his rescue team. Today on this day of Thanks, celebrate this victory, give thanks to all & stay tuned to watch Samoset through his road to recovery. Alittle about Samoset. Samoset is a male, unaltered, pitbull. Black collar, w/faded rabies tag. He was found on the side of Colony Street, off of Boston Ave in Bridgeport, CT. It is assumed due to the look of his injuries that he was hit by a car. His back two legs are injured & he is unable to walk on them. He also has wounds on his front leg & under his mouth. Samoset is being treated by the incredible Dr. Watsfi who came in on this Thanksgiving Day. ACO was called but were told if anyone came out the dog would be PTS. That is how rescuers became involved. We will be searching for the owner of this dog, although they should be searching for us. We will continue to make sure Samoset is safe & most of all loved. Thank you again!
