The metaphor of the Book of Life teaches that we make real choices - TopicsExpress

The metaphor of the Book of Life teaches that we make real choices that have eternal consequences... The Scriptures teach that every word we speak and every choice we make are infallibly recorded in heavenly scrolls, and one day these scrolls will be opened as a testimony about what we did with our lives (Dan. 7:10; Matt. 12:36-37; 1 Cor. 3:13, 4:5). There is a day of reckoning in store for every soul whom God has given life in this world: And I saw the dead, both the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the Book of Life (סֵפֶר הַחַיִּים). And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done (Rev. 20:12). The truth about our lives will be an open book on that day, and every word and deed will be accounted for before the LORD, our Creator, our King, and our Righteous Judge... Nothing will be hidden: Each ones work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. At that time the LORD will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart (1 Cor. 4:5).
