The metaphors used by Tagore in describing the daily sunrise is simply fabulous! I have tried to stay close to them as much as possible. One puzzling observation: Tagore had assigned a feminine gender (birahini) to the Sun whereas, most ancient Indian manuscripts address the Sun as Surya Dev, i.e. masculine. . Another interesting factoid... While searching for a suitable translation for maya (commonly used term being illusion) I learnt etymologically that maya was adopted from Sanskrit by the Persian Avestan as mayu, which later crept into Greek as magus and finally became magic in English. youtube/watch?v=greKLTlweDE
