The military has other duties and other rights; obeys other laws, - TopicsExpress

The military has other duties and other rights; obeys other laws, has other judges, he dresses differently, even talk and walk differently. He is armed, has the privilege of being armed amid unarmed citizens. We entrust him our flag, we give him the keys to our fortresses, our arsenals and we deliver him our conscripts and authority over their freedom, their will, even their life. With a signal of his sword he moves battalions, he open the gates of our fortresses, lowers or raises the National Flag. And all this power and all this privilege, we give him under one and only guarantee, under the guarantee of his honor and his word. We swear before God and the homeland, with our hand on the Gospels; a soldier swears on the hilt of the sword, on the sheet that has to be faithful, loyal, bright as a reflection of his soul, without spot or blemish. So the word of a soldier is something sacred and break its more than perjury. Well, Mr. President, is this the bevel that our young soldiers have to be measured to see if they have the moral stature to gird the sword, which is the most glorious legacy of the heroes who gave us Homeland; to wear the full uniform of gold and gals, would be a ridiculous tinsel if not the symbol of a tradition of glory, of self-denial and sacrifice, as a priesthood that force the wearer. »
