The minutes from the latest PG Fan Committee meeting....Please Read as it has some useful information about the upcoming season... Wednesday 24 September 14 at 6.30pm The meeting was opened at 6.30pm Present: Jason Brewer – Perth Glory CEO David Della Rocca – Chairman Colin Sharland - Secretary Abid Imam – Media Eamon Duffy – Media Amanda Speedy – Memberships Matthew Stacey - Merchandise Apologies: Mel White - Matchday Brian Doherty – Glory Fans United Minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed by those present. Matters Arisng Venues West and Spotless Catering Re the Terrace Bar - The Terrace Member’s Bar will now open two hours before Kick Off and Members will be able to gain access to it by the back entrance along Loton Park. Members will be scanned into the bar but will not be given access to the stadium until gates officially open This is to allow members more time to enjoy the facilities, get something to eat and drink before the match without having to cram it all in within 45 minutes. There may also be memorabilia for Match Days and a Members packaged is being looked into re food and Beverages. Foxtel will be installed in the bar to allow members to watch other A-League games prior to commencement of the Home Game match. This is to encourage those members wishing to, to have a drink at the ground without being rushed. The Committee was also informed that the NIB Lounge in the Fred West stand will also be open to members prior to the match however, this bar will only open 1 hour before kick off. The NIB Lounge bar is also open to members after the game. This has changed from last season where it was used for Pre & Post match functions. The bar will remain open 1 hour after the final whistle. Also, the entrance hall to reception will have a Glory Montage painted on the wall it to replace the other codes that were there under Allia’s control. Venues West officially took over the Stadium on 23 September 2014. Flags & Banners – The club informed us that the large shirt flag used at the start of games for the past few seasons is being revamped and will be available this season. There is also a plan to place 8 very large flags around the ground in strategic positions to be waived by volunteers prior to match. Some fans may recognise this from the English Premier League. Active Fans & The Terrace – An agreement with the FFA has now been signed off in regards to the Active Areas, and a Media Release will be issued shortly by the FFA. Basically to enter the Active Area (The Terrace), on matchdays you must be a member. However, to circumvent this for Glory Fans, Perth Glory are allowed to sell tickets prior to and on matchday that will make the purchaser a member for the day. Each person will be allowed to purchase up to 8 tickets each. All that will be required is that you will have to have your name and address registered on the day prior to entry on the Terrace and this will be done by Full Time employees of Glory and these will be kept as official Membership Lists. Members who have different categories of membership but would like to watch from the Active End will also be allowed entry on showing their Season Tickets. The CEO will liaise directly with the Leadership group of the Terrace so that all relevant information is passed on. New Business: Eamon Duffy has reconsidered his recent statements about resigning from the Committee and has decided to stay on. This was greeted with great pleasure from the group. FFA CUP – Perth Glory will play Melbourne Victory in the Quarter Finals of the FFA on the 29th of October, with the Kick off at 7.30pm. All FFA Quarter Cup ties will be live on Foxtel. Due to the timing and day the match is played it is likely the game will be played at NIB Stadium. Other venues were discussed including the National Hockey Stadium, but unfortunately all venues fell short of consideration. Due to cost restrictions only the Fred West Stand will be open on the night, which has a capacity of 3500. Naturally, if demand for tickets is demonstrated by pre-sales more of the ground could be opened up. Therefore, the FCC Committee and Perth Glory urge all fans, supporters and members to attend. A crowd in excess of 12 000 isn’t unachievable. The rest of the FFA cup games will be played on the 15th, 22nd of October and 5th November with the Final being played on Wednesday 16 December. Facebook & Twitter – Glory has a new you tube account so that fans can watch Glory Videos. The site is: boo audio perth glory. This account will also show live interviews throughout the season and be used for post match press conferences. The club has received a great deal of compliments on its recent coverage of the FFA cup games and also the way the club is approaching its media outlets in general. Although it is still very frustrated in the lack of pickup the FFA Cup has generated with the 3 mainstream channels. In point no highlights were shown of Glory’s recent victory and it was only briefly mentioned by the sports anchor. Memberships – There were several points brought up re membership packs in that some members thought that the zip lock bag the membership goodies came in was a pencil case. This was rectified as it is not its just a carry case. Requests came from Country Members to have their packs mailed out to them. If they contact the club they will forward them on (postage has to be paid by the member), or they can be collected on matchday. The number of Coffee Outlets were discussed as we were asked why there were so few. The reason being when the new stands opened there wasn’t enough trade to keep all 8 operating (except for 1 old day last season) so the closed. There are 3 coffee outlets at the ground and are situated as follows: 1 behind the old grandstand, 1 behind the family stand and 1 on the East Stand concourse. Our current membership stands at 4400. Media – During matches the club is looking to do advertising boards similar to those used around the world where they constantly update information. There was also the suggestion of 360 degree panoramas of the fans be put on the big screens and playlists chosen by fans and players alike be played before and at the half time interval. Another suggestion was to have a you tube Q&A with the players. As mentioned before because of the mainstream media’s reluctance to promote the game in WA (except for Shane Hope @ the West), the club will look to concentrate its media attention to Community and Commercial radio. There being no further business the meeting was closed at 8pm with the next meeting date of Wednesday, 14 January 2015.
