The mission of Central Community House is to empower people to be self-supporting and to live cooperatively with others. It recently recognized some unsung heroes who help it fulfill that mission. People like Cecil Ahad, who works with ex-offenders, Jens and Sherry Hemmingsen and Richard and Joyce Harris, who volunteer so that community gardens in the neighborhood can thrive, producing food, and beautifying the neighborhood. Pastor Bob Ward is an advocate for people who live along the Main St. corridor, and Java Kitrick, who stepped up when the settlement houses in our community faced funding cuts. They are Village Makers and it is great to see them recognized.
