The modern Western human rights doctrine represents a confluence of Greek philosophy, Roman legal practice, Judeo-Christian theological insights, and a range of philosophical ideas about individual liberty, scientific rationalism, and democratic humanism emanating from the Renaissance in Europe and the Enlightenment in Britain and America. This confluence of concept makes it even more vital for the Christians to ensure that the framework has the dignity and worth of people as God’s creation at its very core.
