The moment that summed up the year. 4pm on Mon 25th August. Took this clip minutes after the call went up from our side to hold firm after our numbers had dwindled from 200 in the morning to a few dozen and the Garda numbers swelled at the Greyhound picket to approx 70. Greyhound had an injunction and they could have lifted the lot of us but right was on our side and the state clearly decided on this occasion that they could not be seen to assist with driving low paid workers wages down any lower. A few months before that we won a bunch of seats in the local elections and the DSW bi-election campaign was about to kick off. Timing is everything !!!. The workers eventually won a partial settlement and above all were happy that they fought it to a conclusion rather than let it fizzle out as SIPTU would have them do. What a year !!!!
