The more I read about marketing, the more I realize that we are nothing but little predictable puppets. Paraphrasing from my reading homework on market segmentation and targeting In 2012 Target set out to identify women in their second trimester so that they can get a head start on marketing products to future parents. They used shopping habits (like buying certain vitamins and switching to unscented lotion) to successfully predict when a woman is due. This worked really well for a year until a furious father of a high school student demanded to know why Target was sending his daughter coupons for diapers. Target abandoned this tactic EVEN THOUGH!!! >>> it turned out that the girl was indeed pregnant and hiding it from her parents Wow...
