The more I think about this the angrier I become. Today I had to break my we boys heart. A Dryburgh player since the team started, first as outfield and then reluctantly at first goalkeeper. Natural talent from the beginning he shined in goal, incredible bravery never pulling out of challenges with attackers often coming out worst off but inevitably saving a goal. I can barely recall a single game in which he ever had anything but praise from players parents and coaches. Thus leading to 3 consecutive years either players or parents player of the year awards. And all his hard work payed off when they finally lifted theyre first ever trophy, with Dylan saving a penalty in the final shoot out, to help his team to an amazing victory. And so we come to this wk, 3 wks before the excitement of 11 asides, to be told over the phone hes getting dropped from the team, basically for being smaller than average so might struggle in the bigger goals. Fair enough it would have been tough but to not even be given the chance is unforgivable to a boy thats given everything for his club. Dropped over the phone sums it up, never felt so letdown before. Disgraceful. Lets hope a new team will show him the respect he so greatly deserves.
