The more things change - the more they remain the same. Happy 24th Birthday Kendall RIP Mike Brown 1992 WAKE UP EVERYBODY 2014 I vividly remember this dreadful day in 1992, as I sat in the hair salon getting my hair done; there was a news break - The officers that bear Rodney King have been acquitted! My then 2 year old nephew, Kendall Dontneedya Rudley, who is celebrating his 24th birthday was with me. The crowds started rushing to the streets, I was literally on Florence and Normandy and had to get back to West Hollywood; however the challenge was unbelievable. Folk were screaming, crying, busting car windows, shooting and they literally knocked over police cars in downtown Los Angeles. I made it to Baldwin Hills and thats when I began to see the fires behind me, near Slauson. I couldnt hardly get through the commotion; however when I made it home, smoke was coming through the windows. My friends and I were conversing on how to get out of the city, but the airports were closed and flights were grounded. I went to Boys Market, there shelves were bare, and this continued for days. The government put us on a curfew, the troops rolled in, but the damage had already been done. We must learn to be strategic when dealing with the man that has the upper hand (at that moment). It doesnt mean they are right, and God knows this murderer in Ferguson did the wrong thing; however we have to live for today. We have to protect the children and raise them accordingly to having a life tomorrow. We have to go back to basics, and I do not apologize for speaking facts and truth. Black on Black Crimes are far to many; black life is snuffed out as if we dont matter. Gun violence is common in a street brawl or a card game, and yes I will also say at the crap table (folk shooting dice for money); this is all WRONG! Black Life Matters and until we as black folk understand that, it is going to be difficult for the Caucasian race to respect us, let alone - come to our defense when our unarmed black teenagers are murdered in cold blood by the wicked officers who hide behind the badge. No Justice - No Peace, I understand; however we must flip it. Know Justice - Know Peace! Black Folk We Have to Stop Killing Each Other - We Matter! Happy, Peaceful Thanksgiving as You Continue to Protest! The 1992 Los Angeles riots, also known as the Rodney King riots. They were the largest riots seen in the United States since the 1960s and the worst in terms of death toll after the New York City draft riots in 1863. https://youtube/watch?v=RTlzhlnLhbQ
